Hotel Elqui Valley is a quaint hotel with seven tents, also known as domes. The tents can be opened at the highest point of the roof above the bed. Together with a comfortable interior nothing can disturb the experience of a unique astronomical experience.
In 2010 four rooms with a view, so-called 'observatory rooms' were added to the property. In the design these rooms have the same principles as the domes. One big difference that these rooms also have a beautiful view of the valley.

In 2012 an astronomical observatory is build on the grounds of the hotel; 2 cupolas with telescopes Ceslestron with CGEM German equatorial frames (8 and 9 1/4 inches) - Schmidt-Cassegrain. There is also a digital camera for observation of the moon and planets.

Do you know that the Elqui Valley is also well-known for its fine wines? It is the northernmost wine region of Chile, 530 km north of Santiago on the southern edge of the Atacama Desert. What do astronomers and winegrowers have in common? Clear skies and pure light, the Elqui Valley has both. The yearly 300 days of sunshine serves daytime magic for the grapes and in the night the astronomers will enjoy the beautiful starry sky.
