The Mashpi Lodge is a beautiful smallscale 'jungle lodge' (22 rooms) located approximately 2 1/2 hours west of the Ecuadorian capital Quito. It is a true eco-lodge;  the make use of hydro-electricity and the lodge is build as one with its environment, with a minimalist decor in earth tones. The restaurant of the lodge is also inspired by her surroundings. Here the Ecuadorian cuisine is prepared with fresh ingredients from the rainforest. Imagine such a nice meal with a good Chilean and/or Argentinean wine.

The Mashpi lodge is a great place to start your exploration of the Ecuadorian Andes and Mashpi. The Mashpi reserve is about 2600 hectares and protects the central 'Tumbez-Choco-Magdalena', a 'hot-spot' of the Ecuadorian biodiversity.

The Mashpi Lodge is built on a plateau, resulting in magnificent views of the rainforest and valleys. In the immediate vicinity of the lodge is a great flora and fauna. Special plants and trees and more than 500 species of birds, monkeys and even mountain lions have their habitat here. So-called 'tree top trails', nature trails, waterfalls and (evening) walks accompanied by guides offers plenty of possibilities for activities and thus ways to discover the region. You can also visit the 'Butterfly Garden' with specific local species of butterflies and snakes.

For nature lovers with a focus on eco-tourism, we have again 'discovered' a great new place; The Mashpi Lodge, we love it!
