Guests are welcomed here to enjoy all the beautiful things this region has to offer; the overwhelming Andes, the sun and the fantastic wines. Activities are possible in the form of magnificent walks or horse rides. The proud owner of Bodega Salentein is Mr. Mijndert Pon, Pon Holding.

Not entirely unimportant, and actually very impressive; in the natural landscape of the Salentein vineyards lies a cultural and gastronomic centre with a surface area of 5000 m2. It has been built at the entryway to the sacred place where the Huarpes Indians use to gaze at the stars. The centre is called ‘Killka’, which means ‘entryway’ in the dialect of the original inhabitants, the Huarpes Indians.

Killka
The Killka museum exposes an art collection with contemporary works of art from Argentina and 19th and 20th Century artwork from the Netherlands. In the Argentinean collection you will find works from artists who are already famous, but also some stunning works from new and talented artists. All art is characterized by a high standard and a deep look at the essence of Argentina.
In the Dutch collection you will find paintings of classic Dutch landscapes and daily life. The Dutch artists have tried to reproduce their environment and its daily life with as much detail as possible.

Wine & Dining
The Killka restaurant offers room to about 80 guests. At Killka everything revolves around art, which is why you are surrounded by some of the most beautiful works of art. You can enjoy various culinary dishes with matching wines from their own bodega in an artistic atmosphere. The informal atmosphere, the breathtaking view, the stunning art and the excellent gastronomy make this an exceptional restaurant.

In the Netherlands the name ‘Salentein’ has a rich history. House ‘de Salentein’ is already mentioned in documents from 1730.

Exactly 250 years later, in 1980, the house ends up in the ‘books’ of the Pon family when Mijndert Pon buys the neglected estate in Nijkerk. After two years of restoration, in 1982, the main building is taken into use as an office for Pon Holdings. A year later, at the end of 1983, restaurant ‘de Salentein’ opens its doors in the former carriage house and thresh mill.

The SALENTEIN FAMILY OF WINES has her European base here since a few years as well. Restaurant ‘DE SALENTEIN’, the official residential restaurant of the Salentein Bodegas; Bodega Salentein, Bodega El Portillo en Bodega Callia. Things have come full circle!
