São Paulo, the beating heart of the Brazilian and South American economy!
Most travellers only transfer to their connecting flight to other corners of the country here. However, we recommend city lovers stay here a little longer.

São Paulo was founded in 1554 and it stayed relatively small until approximately 1870. Eventually the city grew out to become the largest city of South America. Because of the good economical climate many immigrants from all parts of the world have found their way to this metropolis. This has turned São Paulo into an interesting mix of the most diverse cultures.

Inhabitants of São Paulo are also called Paulista’s. Paulistas work hard, but know how to relax in the little free time they have. In São Paulo you will find a lot of good restaurants and places of entertainment.

A walk through the beautiful Ibirapuera nature park is a must. Just like São Paulo’s art museum, this museum is one of the largest museums in Latin America. Here you’ll find works from Karel Appel, Giovanni Bellini, Hieronymus Bosch, Sandro Botticelli, Calder, Paul Cézanne, Lucas Cranach der Ältere, Paul Gaugain, El Greco, Vincent van Gogh, Frans Hals, Pablo Picasso and many others. Last but not least, the cathedral of São Paulo is also worth visiting. The building is one of the largest neo-gothic cathedrals in the world.

Did you know that, after Los Angeles, São Paulo has the most helicopters in the air?

That is because it’s faster and most of all safer to move by helicopter. Rich people take the helicopter to the beach, 80 km further up, or to the shopping mall. Banks also use helicopters a lot for money transport. Of course the police also use them for patrols.
