Paradisiacal beaches
You close your eyes. You’re sitting on a pristine white, deserted beach, whilst the waves break gently, the wind rustles through the palm trees and you sip the juice from a fresh coconut. You open your eyes and you’re in Belize, a little piece of paradise on earth. Belize has the most beautiful beaches, and yet the country remains virtually undiscovered.
Not yet discovered by mass tourism
Belize has the most idyllic beaches you could possibly imagine, and yet it remains undiscovered by mass tourism. There really is a perfect beach to suit everyone’s taste.
On the mainland, you can choose to stay in lovely, small-scale coastal accommodation, where you can enjoy the comfort these hotels offer in complete tranquillity, but from where you can just as easily stroll in your flip-flops to the nearby village and immerse yourself in daily life on the Caribbean coast, which has a pleasantly leisurely pace. Villages such as Hopkins, Placencia and Dangriga are centres of the Garifuna community. This ethnic group descends from African slaves who, following a shipwreck, managed to reach the Caribbean coast of Belize, Honduras and Nicaragua. There is a very relaxed atmosphere in these villages.
