On Santa Cruz, you can visit the Charles Darwin Research Station, where you’ll learn more about the efforts to conserve the islands’ unique ecosystems. As the country consists of roughly three different ecosystems, the best time to visit depends on which area you wish to explore. Similarly, the best time to visit the Galápagos Islands isn’t so much a matter of specific months, but depends on what you’d like to see. For instance, the Galápagos Archipelago is home to both warm and cold ocean currents, which result in different wildlife at various times of the year.

Among other things, biologists have discovered a new species of frog in the area, now called the 'Mashpi' frog.
