The best time to visit Nicaragua is all year round. Temperatures range between 20 and 35 degrees throughout the year, and there are only two seasons.

- The rainy season is from May to October, don't be deterred from travelling during the rainy season, however, as showers are usually limited to the afternoon only.

Nicaragua has a tropical climate with two distinct seasons: the dry season and the rainy season. During the dry season, from November to April, it is often warmer and there is hardly any rainfall. The rainy season runs from May to October; during these months there is more rain, particularly in the afternoon and evening. Temperatures are generally slightly lower, but high humidity means it feels much warmer. The coastal areas in the west of Nicaragua are often drier than those in the east of the country. The eastern coastal region experiences more rainfall due to the influence of the Caribbean Sea. In this region, the weather can also be affected by tropical storms and hurricanes passing over the Caribbean Sea.
