Lakes in Argentina
Crystal-clear rivers and deep blue lakes
Snow-capped mountain peaks, deep blue lakes, crystal-clear rivers and vast, dense forests are just some of the things that make the Argentine Lake District such a fantastic destination!
For the true nature lover
The Lake District stretches from Argentina into Chile. It is the Andes mountain range, with its high, snow-capped peaks, that forms the natural border between the two countries here. San Carlos de Bariloche – Bariloche for short – is the most popular tourist town in the Lake District and serves as the gateway to an impressive region for true nature lovers. Here you’ll find stunning natural beauty in its purest form, with many impressive rivers and lakes. In Argentina’s Lake District, you’ll find around 20 large lakes, including the best-known, Lake Nahuel Huapi. All the lakes are teeming with a wide variety of fish. It is no surprise that this region is particularly popular with fly-fishers, amongst others. As well as fly-fishing, this water-rich region also offers opportunities for other sporting activities, such as hiking/trekking, skiing, rafting, kayaking and climbing.
