Since 2008, we have organised a wide variety of exclusive road trips to Latin America. These trips are undertaken in a group, which always leads to special moments and special friendships.
Travelling with a group
So far, I have personally led all the exclusive road trips we’ve organised with Sapa Pana Travel. And from my own experience, I can say that these kinds of trips are particularly special when undertaken as a group. Every trip has led to friendships for life. I’m still in touch with people I’ve travelled with on these trips. Sometimes you don’t speak for years, but as soon as you see each other again, it’s as if you were travelling together only yesterday, and you’ll immediately start reminiscing.
Unique experiences
So why is it that such strong friendships form during these trips? I reckon it’s down to the fact that you’re on the road together and everyone’s actively involved. After all, you’re driving your own car, have to follow the route yourself, fill up with petrol and cross borders. Teams often travel in groups of two or three cars, and along the way you meet up with others at petrol stations. Things always happen on the road that don’t go to plan, such as breakdowns or traffic jams. I previously wrote a blog about unexpected events. It’s precisely these things that make for special experiences, because you go through them together, help one another, and that strengthens the sense of camaraderie.
A bond for life
On the road, you’re free. You travel with others whenever you feel like it, but experience shows that in the evenings, everyone enjoys sitting down together at the table to reminisce about the day’s adventures over a good glass of wine. It’s often the simple things along the way that create unforgettable moments, and when you share them together, it forges a bond – in many cases, a bond for life. These experiences and friendships are why we love organising this kind of trip so much.
