Antigua

An historic pearl between three volcanoes

This picturesque town, located between the green slopes of the Agua, Fuego and Acatenango volcanoes, is one of Latin America’s best-kept secrets. A wonderful place with brightly coloured houses and cobblestone streets.

Stroll through this amazing city

Antigua is only one hour away from Guatemala City and is Guatemala’s old capital. It is an amazing city to stroll through. All the city’s attractions are within walking distance. Most streets are still very characteristic and covered in cobblestones. There is plenty to see, such as the daily colourful market, the churches, museums, monasteries, ruins and the Parque Central where the locals are relaxing on one of the many benches. Antigua is known for the jade that is being sold in numerous of little shops.

The colonial city is surrounded by 3 volcanoes; Agua, Fuego and Acatenango. This gives the city a special atmosphere and spectacular views. Because the city is located at an altitude of 1,500 metres, there is a pleasant climate throughout the year with temperatures of around 20°C during the day and 10°C at night.
