Archaeological sites

Perhaps one of Mexico’s most famous pyramids, but not everything is yet known about its origins. Historians believe it was built between the 2nd and 5th centuries as a temple in honour of the goddess Teotihuacán. Two impressive structures, the Pyramid of the Moon and the Pyramid of the Sun, create a remarkable sight.

There are several places you simply must see. A visit to Palenque, for example, is a must. The city was considered one of the most important Mayan cities. This Mayan city is still relatively little-visited, and when you visit this special place, you’ll really feel like an explorer.

The province of Oaxaca was the cradle of the Zapotec civilisation. Remains of this civilisation can still be found at the Monte Albán archaeological site, not far from the city of Oaxaca. The Gran Plaza, which is three hundred metres long and two hundred metres wide, forms the heart of Monte Albán.

Tulum is situated right on the coast, perched on high cliffs reaching up to 12 metres, creating a striking contrast. This is without doubt one of the most beautifully situated Mayan sites in the world.
