The culinary hotspot of South America
Lima, the capital of Peru, is considered the culinary capital of Latin America. There are many good restaurants that we can recommend. In addition, Lima has much more to offer. The Peruvian capital is a vibrant metropolis, with several interesting districts, a lot of history and interesting museums.
Too often we hear that travellers skip Lima and travel directly to other areas of Peru. However, if you take the time to explore Lima, you will discover that there are many interesting locations! The city has a lot of history. For a long time, Lima was the most important city of South America. After Fransisco Pizarro founded the city in 1535, Lima served as a seat for the deputy of the Spanish king for two centuries. The colonial centre was placed on the UNESCO list of World Heritage in 1991. Recommended are the San Francisco church, the Plaza de Armas and the cathedral. If you are interested in ancient cultures, a visit to the National Anthropological Museum or the Gold Museum is definitely recommended.
Would you like to make a trip through Peru yourself, including a visit to the capital Lima, and are you curious about the possibilities? Then take a look at the travel itineraries that we have put together for inspiration. You can book these trips directly, but we are also happy to create a personal programme based on your wishes and ideas.
