Lima

The culinary hotspot of South America

Lima, the capital of Peru, is considered the culinary capital of Latin America. There are many good restaurants that we can recommend. In addition, Lima has much more to offer. The Peruvian capital is a vibrant metropolis, with several interesting districts, a lot of history and interesting museums.

The capital of Peru and its rich colonial history

Too often we hear that travellers skip Lima and travel directly to other areas of Peru. However, if you take the time to explore Lima, you will discover that there are many interesting locations! The city has a lot of history. For a long time, Lima was the most important city of South America. After Fransisco Pizarro founded the city in 1535, Lima served as a seat for the deputy of the Spanish king for two centuries. The colonial centre was placed on the UNESCO list of World Heritage in 1991. Recommended are the San Francisco church, the Plaza de Armas and the cathedral. If you are interested in ancient cultures, a visit to the National Anthropological Museum or the Gold Museum is definitely recommended.
