Another wonderful trip made

We’ve been on yet another wonderful trip, organised by Sapa Pana. This time we visited the northern lake district in Chile. From Santiago, we took a domestic flight to Freire and from there drove a rental car to Futangue Park, where the Parque Futangue hotel had been booked for us. A lovely hotel with excellent wellness facilities and, of course, plenty of opportunities for lovely walks in the park.

From there, we drove to Pucón, where the volcano near Villarica naturally makes for a stunning sight. There are also plenty of opportunities in that area to visit thermal baths and go for walks. The town of Pucón is also a lovely place to visit. After Pucón, we spent a few days exploring the area around Malalcahuello. It’s a stunning region with many volcanoes. The places we’d visited earlier in this region, Araucanía, offer a wealth of opportunities for walking and enjoying the impressive scenery near the Andes.
We then flew back to Santiago on a domestic flight and spent a few days exploring the Maipo region in a rental car – that was impressive too.
Finally, we headed to one of the highlights of our trip: Casa Real, Viña Santa Rita. What a stunning location it is. A colonial building with beautiful hotel rooms, surrounded by a 40-hectare park. The hotel and restaurant are superb. To taste the wine, you need to go outside the park. There are also places there to have lunch and enjoy the wonderful wines they produce.
For our final stop, we chose the Colchagua region once again. There are several well-known wineries there, and the accompanying restaurants offer a real culinary treat. We look back on a truly wonderful trip.
