Active Brazil!
And off we go, setting off for the third time with Sapa Pana Travel, because South America has stolen our hearts too.
This time we’ve chosen Brazil because of the enormous diversity this country has to offer. That does mean a trip involving four domestic flights, though.
“ Here we go snorkelling, hiking and enjoying the many macaws and toucans! ”
Bonito and the Cerrado
After arriving in São Paulo, we fly straight on to Campo Grande the next day, from where we drive on to Bonito. Here we go snorkelling, hiking and enjoy spotting the many macaws and toucans.
The next stop is Brasília and the Cerrado, as an alternative to the Pantanal, which has been ravaged by bushfires. Although the animals are harder to spot here, there’s a good chance (and we were lucky enough) to see the maned wolf. Early in the morning, during a game drive, we’re surprised by a maned wolf (without a tracking device), and he’s certainly just as surprised by us. A truly special experience!
Maned wolf spotted!
We then travel on to Salvador, a vibrant city with a history of slavery, plenty of drumming and a unique atmosphere. From Salvador, we visit the relatively little-known Chapada Diamantina, where a couple of challenging hikes await us. Our efforts will be rewarded with fantastic views, accompanied by enthusiastic guides.
Rio de Janeiro and Paraty
Next, we’ll fly to Rio de Janeiro, a city you simply mustn’t miss. Here too, a fantastic guide will be on hand to steer us safely through this immense city. An additional bike ride and a night out with a local will give us a brilliant taste of Brazilian nightlife. The full experience!
We end our trip just as we began: at a leisurely pace. From the hustle and bustle of Rio, we drive to the charming town of Paraty, with its colonial charm. Here, we have a few more activities planned, such as walking and canoeing. Here, too, we meet some fantastic guides once again and take the time to relax and let all our experiences sink in.
Once again, we can look back on a wonderful trip through a remarkable country, with a wide variety of landscapes and activities and friendly locals.
All of this has been expertly organised by Petra / Sapa Pana Travel and their local contacts. We greatly appreciate the personal touch, the consultation and the effort made to accommodate our wishes.
