We want you to enjoy Latin America as much as we do ourselves!

Costa Rica challenges you

The Hopstaken family

To celebrate our daughter’s A-levels, we wanted to go on a special family holiday. We chose Costa Rica because of the many positive travel stories we’d heard from friends and acquaintances.

“ We made a conscious decision to choose Sapa Pana, as we felt that organising the trip ourselves was a step too far given our lack of familiarity with the region. ”

In hindsight, that turned out to be an excellent choice, as our itinerary was severely disrupted by the airline on the outward journey. We were unexpectedly and reluctantly forced to stay in Panama for two nights, but this was handled superbly thanks to Sapa Pana’s network and prompt action. Roos and Myrthe arranged a guide who took us on a trip of Panama City and the Panama Canal, and they also organised accommodation at the particularly lovely La Compañía hotel.

Ultimately, this was one of the reasons why our trip of Costa Rica was unforgettable. You are almost literally swept away by the overwhelming natural beauty of this delightful country: the people are lovely, you can taste the most delicious pineapples and they have excellent hotels – but it also rains every day in the summer.
None of that matters when you’re trekking through the jungle in pitch darkness, gliding on a zipline through the mist over a cloud forest, or stepping out, completely soaked, in the middle of the jungle after an incredible, hours-long rafting trip to reach your hotel. This country challenges you.

Would you like to go on a self-guided trip of Costa Rica and/or Panama, or another country in Latin America, and are you curious about the possibilities? Then do take a look at the itineraries we’ve put together for inspiration. You can book these tours directly, but we’d also be happy to put together a personalised itinerary based on your wishes and ideas.
