Travel itinerary

Day 1: Amsterdam – Santiago

Your unique trip through Chile and Argentina starts today. You will board your intercontinental flight to Santiago in Amsterdam in the evening. You will arrive here the next day.

Day 2: Santiago

When you arrive at Santiago airport this morning, our local staff will welcome you and take you to your hotel. Santiago is considered a quiet and clean city, where it is good to live. In the center of the city you will find many interesting sights and several attractive parks. Wherever you are in the city, you are always surrounded by the peaks of the Andes. You will stay at Casa de Todos , a small boutique hotel in the district Providencia. The hotel does not have a restaurant, but there are plenty of places in Provindencia where you can a good dinner in the evening.

Day 3: Santiago

Today you have time to explore Santiago. In the real city center you will find the central square Plaza de Armas, with its colonial buildings and cathedral. Not far from here you will find the presidential palace La Moneda, the Chilean Parliament building and the Santa Lucia hill, the place where this city was founded. For beautiful views of the city and the Andes you should go to the top of the Cerro San Christóbal or visit the highest tower of Santiago: the Gran Torre de Santiago. Visit the top of the tower just before nightfall. This way you will see the sun setting behind the high mountains of the Andes which creates a beautiful play of colors until all the lights in the center turn on.

Day 4: Santiago – Puerto Varas

Today you will fly to Puerto Montt where a rental car is waiting for you. From here you drive to Puerto Varas, about 15 kilometers away. It is an attractive place, situated next to the Llanquihue lake and overlooking the Osorno volcano with many cozy restaurants, where you can enjoy a good glass of Chilean wine and the delicious local cuisine. You will stay here in a boutique hotel which is located in a characteristic wooden house from the first half of the last century. The city center is 500 meters away. Experience the warmth and atmosphere of Patagonia.

Day 5 & 6: Puerto Varas

These two days you will stay in Puerto Varas. There is plenty to do in the area, so you won't get bored. For example, visit the Todos los Santos lake, which is located at the foot of the Osorno volcano. Or visit the waterfalls of Petrohue, located in the national park Vicente Perez Rosales, known for its lush flora and exuberant fauna. Near Puerto Varas you can also visit the two picturesque towns of Frutillar and Llanquihue. The villages have quite some German influences that can be seen in the architecture, but also in the dishes that you can order in the local restaurants.

Day 7: Puerto Varas – Bariloche

Yesterday evening you returned your rental car and today you will be picked up after breakfast for the lake crossing to Bariloche in Argentina. This day you will travel on shared basis (with other tourists) alternately over land and with ferries you will cross three lakes. Along the way you will enjoy the beautiful views that the Lakes District offers you. Upon arrival in Bariloche you will be brought to Estancia Peuma Hue. This beautiful and typical estancia (=Argentine farm) is located in the national park Nahuel Huapi. The atmospheric lodges are situated in a breathtakingly beautiful landscape of mountains, forests and lakes. For families this place is a must, because you can have your own cottage with your family, which makes you feel like a real resident for a few days in this enchantingly beautiful landscape. You will be culinary spoiled and the service is top! From the lodge you can undertake various activities to discover the beautiful surroundings.

Day 8 & 9: Bariloche

These days are freely planned so you will have the time to discover the surroundings of the Estancia. Kayak for example on one of the quiet mountain lakes or take a boat trip to one of the islands for beautiful walks. For the more active there are also opportunities for horseback riding or mountain biking along the Nahuel Huapi lake.

Day 10: Bariloche – Buenos Aires

In the morning you will be taken to Bariloche airport and fly to Buenos Aires. A local employee will be waiting for you and will take you to your accommodation. You will spend the night in the boutique hotel Casa Bevant which is located in the stylish neighborhood of Recoleta. The accommodation offers comfortable and well-equipped studios with their own kitchenette. Take your rest today or discover Buenos Aires, also known as 'the Paris of the southern hemisphere'.

Day 11 & 12: Buenos Aires

These days you can discover the cosy city of Buenos Aires by yourself. For example, visit the beautiful parks in the Palermo district and the stylish district of Recoleta, great place to go shopping and where the tomb of Evita Peron is located. Also the characteristic district of San Telmo, the birthplace of the tango and of course the working-class neighborhood of La Boca with its colorful houses are definitely worth a visit!

Day 13: Buenos Aires – San Antonio de Areco

From Buenos Aires you will travel to the Argentine countryside. A rental car is waiting for you and in about 2 hours you drive to San Antonio de Areco. San Antonio de Areco is located in the middle of the Argentine pampas and is one of the most historic cities of Argentina. You will stay in El Ombu de Areco, a small accommodation just outside the town, where you will experience the atmosphere of the real gaucho life.

Day 14 & 15: San Antonio de Areco

These days you can participate in various activities offered by the estancia. For example, you can go horseback riding, cycling or make a nice ride with a horse and carriage. You can also spot birds or relax at the pool. Visit San Antonio de Areco, which is 12 kilometers from the estancia. It is a beautiful 18th century colonial town, with picturesque squares and narrow streets. Explore the soul and character of the gaucho at the Ricardo Guiraldes Gaucho Museum. Or admire the craft of silversmithing and leatherwork in the craftsmen's workshops. Enjoy these days in the beautiful surroundings.

Day 16: San Antonio de Areco – Buenos Aires – Amsterdam

Today you will drive to the airport of Buenos Aires by yourself. You drop-off your rental car and board the intercontinental flight to Amsterdam where you will arrive the next day.

Day 17: Amsterdam 

You will arrive in Amsterdam today.
