Travel itinerary

Day 1: Amsterdam - Buenos Aires

Today your Unique Journey through Argentina begins! In the evening you will board your intercontinental flight to Buenos Aires in Amsterdam.

Dag 2: Buenos Aires

Early in the morning you will arrive at Buenos Aires airport. A local employee will welcome you and take you to your hotel. The rest of the day you have time to discover this beautiful metropolis. For example, visit the beautiful parks in the Palermo district, the stylish Recoleta district, where you can enjoy shopping and where Evita Peron's grave is also located. The characteristic San Telmo district, the cradle of tango and of course the popular neighborhood of La Boca with its colorful houses are definitely worth a visit!

Day 3: Buenos Aires

Today you will be taken on a culinary tour through Buenos Aires and you will get to know different kinds of street food. Don't eat too much at breakfast as you are guaranteed to get plenty to taste on this tour. Most Argentinians eat almost nothing in the morning, and then have an extensive lunch. Together with your guide you will discover three favorite dishes of the Argentines. You will taste a delicious empanada. This is a delicious snack of chicken, meat or vegetarian ingredients, which are packed in dough. You will taste Choripán, a sandwich with spicy sausage and chimichurri. Almost every seller has their own "secret" recipe for the choripán. You finish the tour with a delicious ice cream, with a choice of about 200 different tastes. During the tour, the guide will also tell you more about Buenos Aires itself.

Day 4: Buenos Aires - Mendoza

You will be picked up at your hotel and transferred to Buenos Aires airport, where you will board your domestic flight to Mendoza. This is the center of the Argentinean wine industry. Approximately 80% of the Argentinian wines are produced here. Once you have arrived here, your rental car is ready for you and you will drive to your hotel (approx. 120 km / 2 hours drive). You will stay in the attractive hotel Casa de Uco.

Day 5 and 6: Mendoza

These days you have the opportunity to explore Mendoza and its fascinating surroundings with your rental car. Around Mendoza are several beautiful wineries, which are worth a visit. In addition, Mendoza is close to the Andes, the Aconcagua, with 6959 meters, the highest mountain in South America, is located in this region.

Casa de Uco is the result of a dream come true. The passion for design and architecture is combined with the love and appreciation for good wines. A beautiful hotel in the heart of the Uco Valley, not far from Mendoza. As soon as you enter the hotel you immediately notice that a lot of attention has been paid to the design and interior. The modern and sleek appearance fits perfectly within the calming landscape. In the afternoon you can enjoy a good wine in the wine bar with lounge, by the crackling fire. In the evening, the chefs will prepare a delicious dinner for you. The ingredients used are mainly from the region. Naturally, this dinner in Casa de Uco is accompanied by one of the good wines from the region. The sommeliers are happy to advise you and, if desired, let you taste the different wines.

Day 7: Mendoza - Salta

At Mendoza Airport, you will return the rental car and take a domestic flight to Salta in northwest Argentina. Once you arrive here you will be transferred to your hotel, in the city of Salta where you will be staying for the next few nights. Salta is also called 'La Linda' or 'the beauty'. It is a pleasant city with a friendly atmosphere and a wonderful climate all year round.

Day 8: Salta

Today you can discover Salta and its surroundings. The region has beautiful canyon landscapes with multicolored mountains, but also high plains (punas) with meter-high cacti. Salta has a beautiful historic heart with an attractive central square, the Plaza de Armas, which also houses a number of good restaurants. You can visit the main sights of Salta such as the cathedral, the San Francisco church and the San Bernardo mountain, from where you have a great view over the city.

Day 9: Salta - Purmamarca

(approx. 185 km | 3 hour drive)
After breakfast, your rental car will be delivered to your hotel and drive in the direction of Jujuy city, the most northerly town, not far from the Bolivian border. This place is also the heart of the most indigenous region of the country, the majority of the population is of Native American origin. Here you can taste the real authentic Andean atmosphere, typical of Peru, Bolivia and the north of Chile. The end of this drive takes you into the Humahuaca Valley, a ravine that runs south from the border with Bolivia. More then tenthousend years ago, the Rio Grande laid the foundation for this impressive landscape. The traditional village of Purmamarca is also located in this valley.

Day 10: Purmamarca

Today you have time do discover Purmamarca and surroundings. Purmamarca is located at an altitude of 2200 meters at the foot of the "Cerro de Siete Colores", the impressive mountain with seven colors. The colors in the rocks are caused by oxidation of the various minerals in the soil: manganese gives a purple color, copper gives a green color, clay gives a yellow color and depending on the iron content, there are various shades of red. It is a perfect place to acclimatize and enjoy the peace and space that the high north of Argentina offers.

Day 11: Purmamarca - Salta

(approx. 330 km | 6 hour drive)
From Purmamarca you drive back to Salta, but you'll take a different route. Visit the Salinas Grande salt flat and make a stop in the town of San Antonio de los Cobres. This route takes you back to Salta through a spectacular landscape with expansive panoramas, extensive salt flats and impressive mountain passes. Unlike in the beginning, you are now staying just outside Salta in a typical Finca. Enjoy the rest of the day in the property's garden, go for a walk or take a horseback ride.

Day 12: Salta - Cachi

(approx. 150 km | 3,5 hour drive)
This day you drive from Salta to Cachi. Along the way you will see the green, fertile landscape change into a mountain area. You will pass through the Valle de Calchaqui, a beautiful drive along attractive villages and impressive panoramas.

Day 13: Cachi - Cafayate

(approx. 170 km | 4 hour drive)
Today you drive through the mountains to Cafayate. The dry landscape and the enormous amount of sun that shines here make this area ideal for wine growing.

Day 14: Cafayate

Today you have a free day in Cafayate. Cafayate is a small cozy town surrounded by beautiful mountains, vineyards and bodegas. There is a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. You can visit the main square Plaza San Martin. Here you will find nice shops, terraces and restaurants. Everything is within walking distance, even a number of bodegas where you can get a free tour and the possibility to taste wine.

Day 15: Cafayate - Salta - Puerto Iguazu

After breakfast, drive to Salta Airport (approx. 200 km | 3 hour drive) from where you will take a domestic flight to Puerto Iguazu. On arrival you will be transferred to your hotel.

Day 16: Puerto Iguazu

This day you will be taken by your guide to the Brazilian side of the falls. Foz do Iguaçu consists of about 275 waterfalls and these are best to visit in the morning because the light on the water is at its best. When the sun rises, rainbows appear on all sides. There is a path that goes all the way to the bottom of the thundering body of water with several beautiful viewpoints.

Day 17: Puerto Iguazu

You will visit the Argentinian side of the falls accompanied by a guide. When you look straight into the “Garganta del Diablo” (Devil's Throat) from above, you immediately understand how this part got its name. Here nature shows its true nature. It is truly a unique experience to be so close to this waterfall. You will have to pay for this with a wet suit, but in the form of the sun, nature also ensures a dry suit!

Day 18: Puerto Iguazu - Buenos Aires

You will be picked up from your hotel and taken to the local airport for your return flight to Buenos Aires. Upon arrival you will be welcomed and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day you can still enjoy your stay in this beautiful capital. Perhaps you would like to visit a Tango & dinner show to end your trip?

Day 19: Buenos Aires - Amsterdam

This day you will be picked up and taken to the airport, where you will board your intercontinental flight to Amsterdam.
