Day 1: Amsterdam – Mexico City – San José del Cabo

Today you’ll take your intercontinental overnight flight to Mexico City, where you’ll arrive early the following morning.

Day 2: San José del Cabo

You’ll arrive in Mexico City in the morning, where you’ll transfer to your domestic flight to San José del Cabo. Once you arrive, you’ll be met by one of our local staff members and together you’ll collect your rental car. You’ll then drive to your accommodation in San José del Cabo, a journey of approximately 13 km / 30 minutes. You’ll be staying at Casa Natalia, a small-scale boutique hotel in the heart of San José del Cabo’s historic centre. The rest of the day is free to spend as you wish; you can relax on the beach after your flight or visit the town’s historic centre.

Day 3: San Jose del Cabo – La Paz

(approx. 200 km | 3-hour drive)
After breakfast, you’ll continue your journey to La Paz, stopping off at the ghost town of El Triunfo along the way. La Paz is a charming city with a historic centre on the east coast of Baja California. There are beautiful beaches all around the city. You will spend the next three nights at the Hotel Posada de las Flores, a charming boutique hotel just a few metres from the seafront promenade.

Day 4: La Paz

This day is free to spend as you wish. You have the option of heading out in your rental car. For example, you could visit the nearby mangrove bays, which are home to a large number of seabirds. Or you could go kayaking on the beautiful turquoise waters. One of these bays, Balandra Bay, was named one of the 10 most beautiful in the world by Condé Nast Traveller Magazine. You can also choose to go on a boat trip to spot whale sharks, which are present here between June and September. A truly special experience!

Day 5: La Paz

In the morning, you’ll set off with an international group aboard a boat towards the unique island of Espiritu Santo. You’ll spend the whole day sailing to see as much as possible, and lunch will be provided. The island of Espiritu Santo was first explored by Jacques Cousteau in 1974; he described its waters as ‘the aquarium of the world’. The area was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995. The island is exceptionally beautiful; the contrast between the desert-like landscape and the sea, together with the volcanic rock formations, creates a stunning play of colours. You’ll find a variety of seabirds here; with a bit of luck, you might spot the blue-footed booby, as well as sea lions. The seawater is crystal-clear, and you can go snorkelling amongst the coral reef, the beautiful colourful fish and the sea lions. You might even be treated to the sight of a pod of dolphins, leaping rays or even whales during the day. At lunchtime, you’ll enjoy a picnic on the beach. You’ll return to your hotel at the end of the afternoon.

Day 6: La Paz – Loreto

(approx. 365 km | 5.5-hour drive)
You’ll leave La Paz and continue on to Loreto, the former capital of Baja California. The town is known for the first Jesuit mission established in the 17th century, for the intimate atmosphere of the village with its picturesque colonial streets, and for its wide, beautiful bay. In the afternoon, you can visit the nearby rocky canyon, which rises 500 metres high. Back in Loreto, you can enjoy a stunning sunset. You’ll stay for two nights at Posada de las Flores Loreto, a charming boutique hotel right in the heart of Loreto’s colonial centre.

Day 7: Loreto

Today you have a day off in Loreto. Explore the surrounding area in your rental car, enjoy the beach or go on a lovely boat trip. Enjoy! The town of Loreto isn’t particularly well known, but it is a small, charming town on the Baja California peninsula, bordering the Sea of Cortez. It has a picturesque old town with shaded squares and an attractive promenade where locals and tourists alike enjoy strolling along the waterfront. The town’s motto is ‘300 years old and still undiscovered’. Whale watching is very popular in Loreto from mid-December to mid-March. Fishing is also popular here. You can catch marlin, yellowtail and other ray-finned fish. Diving is also possible here.

Day 8: Loreto – López Mateos

(approx. 160 km | 2.5-hour drive)
You’ll set off from Loreto heading south-west towards López Mateos, on the other side of the peninsula. Puerto López Mateos is one of the best spots for whale watching in Baja California. Your hotel is situated right on the beach and offers stunning views. Relax on your veranda or take a stroll along the beach.

Day 9: López Mateos – Puerto San Carlos

(approx. 120 km | 2-hour drive)
Today you’ll drive on to Puerto San Carlos. Puerto San Carlos is a small village home to a large number of crab and mussel gatherers. You’ll be staying here at Hotel Villas Mar y Arena, where you’ll have a cabin with a stunning sea view. This is the perfect spot for whale watching.

Day 10: Puerto San Carlos

Enjoy your day off today. Set off in your rental car to explore the surrounding area or book your place on a whale-watching trip. Now that you’re here, it’s certainly worth seeing these animals. The rest of the day is free to spend as you wish.

Day 11: Puerto San Carlos – Todos Santos

(approx. 345 km | 5.5-hour drive)
After breakfast, you’ll drive on to Todos Santos. This small town is home to many artists and has a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. There are many art galleries and a variety of restaurants to be found here. You’ll be staying in a 19th-century historic building which houses the Guaycura Boutique Hotel & Spa. After exploring the Mexican town, you can treat yourself to some pampering at the ‘Aena Spa’, which has been selected by GQ Magazine as one of the ‘best spas in Mexico’.

Day 12: Todos Santos – San José del Cabo

(approx. 110 km / 1.5-hour drive)
Today you’ll continue your journey back to San Jose del Cabo, where you’ll spend the final days of your trip at the charming boutique hotel Casa Natalia. The hotel is situated in the heart of the historic town of San Jose del Cabo, surrounded by stately colonial buildings, charming shops and excellent restaurants. As you step inside the boutique hotel, you’ll notice that it’s decorated with great flair and a keen eye for detail.

Days 13 to 15: San Jose del Cabo

You’ll have these days to spend as you wish in San Jose del Cabo. Spend your days on the beach or take a dip in your hotel’s swimming pool, and enjoy a delicious dinner in the evening at the ‘Mi Cocina’ restaurant. Chef and owner Loic Tenoux serves classic dishes renowned for their Euro-Mexican cuisine. As well as an excellent wine list, you can also order a colourful Martini cocktail at the Palapa bar. Make the most of these final days here!

Day 16: San José del Cabo – Mexico City – Amsterdam

Unfortunately, your trip has come to an end. Today you will drive to San Jose del Cabo Airport (approx. 15 km / half an hour’s drive), where you will return your rental car and board your intercontinental flight to Amsterdam, via Mexico City.
