Day 7: Mexico City – Teotihuacán – San Miguel de Allende
Today you’ll leave Mexico City, with your first stop being the magnificent archaeological site of Teotihuacán. The city was built by an unknown people between the 1st and 7th centuries AD. The Aztecs later settled in the city. New discoveries are still being made at this archaeological site. After Teotihuacán, a private transfer will take you to your accommodation in San Miguel de Allende, one of the most beautiful colonial towns in Latin America. The hotel where you will be staying has striking features and is laid out around a peaceful courtyard, just like any colonial-era hacienda. The rooms are very spacious with high ceilings and feature beautiful colonial décor. You’ll also have access to three swimming pools, a sprawling garden full of tropical plants, an award-winning spa, two restaurants and a wine cellar. What’s more, the town centre is just a short walk away. There’s no better place to stay in San Miguel de Allende.

City trip including tequila tasting
The best way to experience the wonders of San Miguel de Allende is on foot. Today, a private guide will take you on a walking trip of the town centre. The history and heritage of San Miguel are intertwined with the independence movement. This energy and spirit of freedom of expression can still be felt in modern-day San Miguel. After your walking trip of the city, you’ll be taken to Casa Dragones. This building once housed the stables of the Dragones, the rebels from San Miguel de Allende who launched the movement for Mexican independence here. Today, this building is home to the exclusive tasting room of the eponymous Casa Dragones Tequila. With its elegant stone terrace and open-air tasting room, there’s no better place to spend the afternoon learning about tequila and discovering more about the history of the rebels, with a glass of Casa Dragones tequila in your hand. Afterwards, you’ll be taken back to your hotel.
