Day 1 | Amsterdam – Lima
Your special journey through Peru begins today. You’ll fly from Amsterdam to the Peruvian capital, Lima. On arrival, a local representative will take you to your hotel. You’ll be staying at the Belmond Miraflores Park Hotel, situated in one of Lima’s most fashionable and trendy neighbourhoods. Let the friendly staff pamper you this evening. After your long flight, unwind with a massage or a hydrating facial at the spa and enjoy an exceptional dinner with a stunning view of the Pacific Ocean. Round off your evening with a delicious cocktail and slip into your comfortable bed for a good night’s sleep.

Day 2 | Lima – Sacred Valley
Late in the morning, you will be taken to the airport and fly to Cuzco. Once you arrive, you will be taken to your hotel in the Sacred Valley. The Sacred Valley was the heart of the Inca civilisation, a fertile region with green agricultural terraces, surrounded by impressive mountains. Your hotel, Belmond Rio Sagrado, is situated on the banks of the Urubamba River. It is the perfect base from which to explore this beautiful area. The rest of the afternoon is yours to spend at your leisure. Enjoy the sensational cuisine in the restaurant or treat yourself to a traditional Sacred Valley massage.

Day 3 | Sacred Valley – Machu Picchu
It is early in the morning and you are looking out over the mist-shrouded Sacred Valley. The view is breathtaking. You’ll be picked up and taken to Ollantaytambo railway station, where you’ll board the Belmond Hiram Bingham train for a stunning journey through the countryside, bound for Machu Picchu.As the stunning views glide past you, you’ll enjoy classic local flavours and gourmet dishes. Once you arrive in Aguas Calientes, you and your fellow travellers will disembark from the Hiram Bingham train and board a shuttle bus to the entrance of the Machu Picchu citadel. Here, a local guide will be waiting to show you around the hidden city. Let yourself be swept away by the magical stories that are told. A visit to this hidden city is sure to leave a lasting impression on you. In the evening, you’ll travel back to Ollantaytambo on the Hiram Bingham train. On the way, you’ll once again be treated to an exquisite dinner on board. Upon arrival in Ollantaytambo, you’ll be taken back to your hotel.

Day 4 | Sacred Valley – Cuzco
From the Sacred Valley, you’ll be driven to the mythical and vibrant city of Cuzco. A city steeped in history that will surprise even the most discerning traveller. Red tiled roofs, whitewashed walls and the green and gold of the mountains, set against the vast blue sky. In 1533, Cuzco was invaded by the Spanish, which is why you’ll find the magnificent architecture of the Incas alongside Renaissance architecture everywhere you look. Sometimes even literally in the same spot. One of the city’s most popular sights is the famous twelve-cornered Inca stone, which forms part of a wall in the Archbishop’s Palace in Cuzco. There’s no shortage of a cosy atmosphere here. The area is teeming with lovely little cafés and good coffee shops. Today, wander through the city’s narrow streets and soak up the magical energy.

Day 5 | Cuzco
Once upon a time… You wake up this morning in a real-life fairy tale. The Belmond Hotel Palacio Nazarenas, built on Inca foundations, combines its remarkable history with modern comfort and service in an enchanting setting. Start your day off right with a delicious breakfast featuring fresh produce from your hotel’s garden. Then let your private guide take you on a trip of the beautiful city of Cuzco. The city’s name comes from the Quechua word ‘cosqo’, which means ‘navel of the world’. You’ll visit the Sacsayhuaman archaeological park just outside Cuzco, where you’ll explore the fortress of the same name. It’s truly impressive to see how the Incas built this structure. Some of the stones are as much as four metres high. Afterwards, you’ll visit the underground cave of Q’enqo and the Puma Temple, where you can see an altar for sacrifices. On the way to the centre of Cuzco, you’ll enjoy a panoramic view at Puca Pucara. Then it’s time to visit the Temple of the Sun at Koricancha, on top of which the Santo Domingo monastery was built. Finally, you’ll visit the city’s main square.
The afternoon is yours to spend as you wish. Pamper yourself at the hotel’s spa, take a dip in the swimming pool or relax in the beautiful courtyard. In the evening, enjoy a culinary journey through the Andes at the Senzo restaurant. Under the guidance of head chef Rodrigo, traditional dishes are transformed into exquisite modern creations.

Day 6 | Cusco – Puno
In the morning, you’ll be collected from your hotel to board the Belmond Andean Explorer train, bound for Arequipa. You’ll spend the next two nights on the train, in a comfortable cabin. Unwind as the train begins its journey to Puno. Stunning landscapes glide past as you sit back in your comfortable seat and gaze out of the window. In the afternoon, lunch is served in one of the elegant dining carriages. Savour refined Andean specialities served with flair. Before sitting down to a delicious dinner, enjoy a sensational sunset as the sun disappears behind the La Raya mountains.

Day 7 | Puno – Sacacoha
Get up early this morning to watch the breathtaking sunrise over Lake Titicaca, before enjoying a delicious breakfast. You’ll take a traditional boat trip to the famous Uros Islands, handmade islands constructed from reeds. This is where the Uros people live, and they’ll be delighted to show you their way of life. You’ll then sail on to Taquile Island, renowned for its agricultural terraces. The woven fabrics produced by the traditional community living here are regarded as the finest in Peru. You will then board the train again to enjoy a catered lunch whilst the train continues on to Sacacoha. Along the way, you can also enjoy cocktails and snacks at the bar.

Day 8 | Sacacoha – Colca Canyon
Watch the sunrise this morning whilst surrounded by the breathtaking scenery. Then enjoy a hearty breakfast before setting off on your next excursion. Today you’ll visit the Sumbay Caves, which are adorned with murals estimated to be 8,000 years old. You’ll then board the train again and the journey continues to Cañahuas, where you’ll alight to travel on to your accommodation in the Colca Canyon, a hidden gem in the Andes. The surroundings of the Colca Canyon are impressive, and the hotel where you’ll be staying is just as stunning. At Belmond Las Casitas del Colca, the hustle and bustle of everyday life seems light years away. Relax by the pool, unwind in the spa or read a good book in the beautiful garden surrounding the hotel.

Day 9 | Colca Canyon
Wake up to the breathtaking natural beauty of the Colca Canyon. Enjoy a coffee with your breakfast whilst gazing out over the immense gorge from the restaurant terrace. This morning, you’ll set off with a guide to spot condors. The canyon is the condor’s natural habitat. They fly through the canyon, usually in the mornings and evenings. In between, they search for food in more distant areas. Sometimes they fly right over you, about 5 metres away. The rest of the afternoon is yours to spend as you wish. There’s plenty to do to fill the afternoon.

Day 10 | Colca Canyon – Arequipa – Lima
Late in the morning, you will be collected from your accommodation and taken to Arequipa Airport. From here, you will fly to Lima and be transferred to your hotel on arrival. You will once again be staying at the Belmond Miraflores Park Hotel. In the evening, you can enjoy dinner at one of the city’s many restaurants. We’d be happy to recommend some of the better ones.

Day 11 | Lima
Start your morning in Lima on a high note with a delicious breakfast buffet in the hotel restaurant. Then let your guide take you on a trip of the Peruvian capital. Your private guide will take you through the historic centre of Lima, where you can admire and learn about the numerous architectural remains of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Start at the magnificent Santo Domingo Monastery, which was built when Lima was founded and originally housed the University of San Marcos (the oldest university on the American continent). From here, you’ll walk via Lima’s main square – where the Government and City Halls are located – to Lima Cathedral. The cathedral contains numerous religious art treasures and is considered an integral part of Lima’s history. You will then visit the Larco Museum. This museum houses a vast private collection of pre-Columbian artefacts, jewellery and ceremonial objects, most of which are made of gold.

Day 12 | Lima – Amsterdam
Your trip of Peru comes to an end today. One of our local staff members will take you to Lima airport. Here, you will board an intercontinental flight to Amsterdam, where you will arrive the following day.

You will arrive in the Netherlands today.
